(Dalton, Germantown) DEATHS ELSEWHERE ELSEWHERE Diego Lucero, 93: The only journalist known to have covered all 15 soccer World Cup finals; of a heart attack Sunday in Argentina. An amateur soccer player in the 1920s, Mr. Lucero reported on the first World Cup finals in Uruguay in 1930. He was honored last year's finals in the United States by Joao Havelange, head of the world soccer governing body.

He also attended the 1936 Olympics in Berlin where he sat just 10 meters from Adolf Hitler and spent an afternoon taking notes on Hitler's "gesticulations and movement." Mr. Lucero, who also covered the Spanish Civil War, was arrested at one point and ordered shot. He was spared after U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt intervened.

Dr. Arthur Shapiro, 72: A psychiatrist whose research advanced the knowledge and treatment of Tourette's Syndrome; Saturday of lung cancer. Working with his wife, Dr. Elaine Schlaffer Shapiro, Mr. Shapiro became convinced that Tourette's was a neurological rather than a psychological disorder.

He developed various medications to alleviate the symptoms. Mr. Shapiro was a clinical professor of psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical School and director of the Tourette Research Foundation. Tourette's causes uncontrolled facial tics and other movements as well as grunts and shouts of obscenities. ONTO 60 vd DAYTON DAILY NEWS CAHILL, Naomi Lee (nee Boyd), age 70, of Las Vegas, NV, died Thursday, June 1 following an extended illness.

Retired Insurance Broker with Cahill-LeavittofLas Vegas, formerly with Art Long Assoc. of Dayton. Born March 4, 1925 in Dayton to William Bruce Mary Lee (Harris) Boyd. She married April 16, 1941 to Cleo Lorin Cahill, who died November 15, 1986. Beloved mother of daughter son-in-law, Claudia L.

and James A. Thom of Bloomington, IN; also surviving are granddaughter, Cheryl McInnis; grandson, Loren M. She will be sorely missed by all her loved ones, friends, relatives, including her adopted children and grandchildren. ESSMAN, Marjorie R. (Penrod), age 67, of Centerville, died Monday. Preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Penrod. Marjorie graduated from St.

Anthony School in 1941 and Patterson Co-Op Class of 1945. She was a charter member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and a member of Naim Alumni. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or charity of donor's choice. FITZPATRICK, Donald L. Fitzpatrick, 67, of 47 Lake Street, died Monday evening in his home following an illness. He leaves his wife, Betty Jean (Green) Fitzpatrick, whom he married in June of 1949; two sons, Thomas L. Fitzpatrick of Owings, MD and Mark Fitzpatrick of Dayton, OH; a daughter, Sharon L.

Imig of Westminster and a sister, JaneF. Wright ofAspen, CO; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Born in Storm Lake, Iowa, he was the son of Francis G. and Elizabeth (Storer) Fitzpatrick and had lived in Gardner, MA for several months. Mr.

Fitzpatrick was a World War II Navy Veteran, being discharged in 1947. In 1951, he joined the United States Air Force and served in numerous countries, including Japan, Guam, England, Germany, and also in many bases in the United States and was discharged a Senior Master Sergeant from Dayton, Ohio in 1968. He then worked in time study for the National Cash Register Company until 1974 where he became a contract negotiator for the U.S. Air Force until 1983 and retired from the E. Systems in Falls Church, Va in 1988.

Mr. Fitzpatrick was also a Deputy Sheriff in Lincoln, Nebraska. A memorial service will be held at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, School and Cross Streets at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday.

Private burial will be in the Plainfield Cemetery in Bradshaw, Nebraska. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gardner Visiting Nurses Hospice Program, 95 Mechanic Street, or to the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 79 Cross Street, Gardner, MA 01440. She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters and is survived by manynieces and nephews; as well as her Ursuline Community.
